Heavy-Duty Rubber Wheel Piano Caster Set
Complete Installation Kit for Heavy Upright & Studio Pianos
Designed for tall, heavy upright pianos and studio pianos, these premium rubber-wheel casters are rated for 300 pounds per caster (1,200 pounds per set). Since 1985, I've yet to encounter an upright piano too heavy for this caster set.
The rubber wheels roll smoothly while being much gentler on hardwood, laminate, tile, and other finished floors than traditional iron-wheel casters. If your piano is too heavy for our lighter-duty rubber caster set (rated at 160 pounds per caster), this is the set I recommend.
Complete Installation Kit Includes
- Four heavy-duty rubber-wheel casters
- Four zinc-plated caster sockets
- Four stem bushings
- Mounting screws
- Ragland ProFit™ Shim Kit
- Illustrated installation instructions
The Ragland ProFit™ Advantage
Every piano is a little different.
Rather than forcing you to rout, rasp, or modify the piano to make the caster fit correctly, our exclusive ProFit™ Shim Kit allows each caster socket to be shimmed from approximately 0.030" up to 7/16".
Simply add enough shims behind the socket until the caster rotates freely without rubbing the bottom of the piano.
For best results, I recommend maintaining approximately 1/8" clearance between the caster frame and the bottom of the piano to allow for normal flex once the piano is resting on its casters.
Specifications
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 300 lbs per caster |
| Wheel Diameter | 2" |
| Wheel Width | Approximately 1-5/8" |
| Socket Diameter | 2-1/8" |
| Stem Diameter | Approximately 0.59" |
| Stem Length | 1-7/16" |
| Overall Height | Approximately 2-7/8" |
The included stem bushings increase the effective stem diameter to approximately 0.92", making them ideal for replacing original casters that used larger stem holes.
Note: Don't be concerned if a bushing develops a small crack while being pressed onto the stem. This is common and does not affect its performance. A snug stem fit is important for long-term durability of the caster socket.
Installation Video
The installation video on this page demonstrates installation of our double rubber-wheel caster. Although the wheel material differs, the frame and socket dimensions are identical, making the installation procedure essentially the same for this caster set.
I recommend watching the video before beginning your installation, especially if this is your first caster replacement.
Technical Support Included
I've been servicing pianos professionally since 1985 and have installed or replaced casters on hundreds of pianos, including uprights, spinets, consoles, studios, square grands, baby grands, and grands.
When you purchase from Ragland Piano Company, you're getting more than just replacement parts. If you have questions before, during, or after installation—even if the piano is already tipped on its side—I'm happy to help. My goal is for your installation to be successful, and my contact information is included with every order.
